Major objectives for the workshop are to\:
Engage with current researchers\, including students
Provide hands-on training in observatory data access and data visualization
Receive input and suggestions on data access and data products
Review progress in benthic ecology research using the NEPTUNE Canada and VENUS cabled networks
Coordinate future research activities and develop strategic funding options for observatory research activities.

What other research questions (and associated infrastructure) should be addressed in the Endeavour area?
This workshop provides a forum for participants to discuss interdisciplinary opportunities that would be enabled by extending power and communications/data transmission from the NEPTUNE network to CORKs at IODP 1027 deep-sea site on the eastern flank of the Juan de Fuca Ridge - a remote and dynamic ocean environment. Discussions will include potential instrumentation\, technological and logistical issues\, funding\, proposed process\, and timeline.

The next International Deep-Sea Biology Symposium will re-establish an overall three year interval by being held in 2012 and will be held for the first time in the southern hemisphere.The Symposium will provide the opportunity for members of the international deep-sea science community to discuss and present their latest research results.
