The 2018 Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) Annual Meeting was held in Plymouth (UK) on 4-6 September 2018. InterRidge, being a SCOR-affiliated program, has been represented by its coordinator. The meeting was an opportunity to review all SCOR activities, approve new working groups, discuss on budget, elections and other activities for 2019, and vote on SCOR Constitution.

Due to several problems with international bank transfers, we would like to inform you that the deadline for registration and abstract submission to the SCOR-InterRidge Meeting on "Mid-Ocean Ridges and Other Geological Features of the Indian Ocean" has been extended until 25th August 2018. For those who experienced any problems with the fee transfer, we propose a new option of "on-site payment" by cash in Indian Rupees (7000 INR = 100 USD) at the reception counter when you arrive at NIO for conference.

The SCOR-InterRidge Meeting on "Mid-Ocean Ridges and Other Geological Features of the Indian Ocean" will take place on 14-16 November 2018 in Goa (India).

A limited number of travel fellowship will be offered by SCOR and InterRidge based on the the situation and motivation of the applicant, followed by a first-come, first-served basis. Please apply when registering.

Forty-nine scientists have registered to the InterRidge Workshop on Oceanic Transform Faults held from 22nd to 24th May 2018 in Brest/Plouzané (France). The lists of participants and of keynote speakers are on-line, please visit the workshop website to find the most important information.

The 3rd European Mantle Workshop will take place in the historical University of Pavia, situated approximately 40 km South of Milan, from Tuesday 26th to Thursday 28th June 2018. The workshop aims at providing a framework of advanced knowledge on the evolution of the Earth’s mantle. The workshop is mainly intended to discuss the mantle beneath Europe and neighboring areas; presentations from other parts of the world are welcome. Oral and poster presentations are scheduled.

The next AGU Fall Meeting (American Geophysical Union) will be held on 11-15 December 2017 in New Orleans (Louisiana, USA) at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
The abstract submission is now open, the deadline is on 2nd August, 2017 (23:59 EDT/03:59 +1 GMT).

The InterRidge Steering Committee is an assembly of representatives from the Principal and Regular Member Nations of InterRidge. Principal Member Countries have two voting representatives while Regular Member Countries have one. Each Corresponding Member Country has a national correspondent who is welcome as observer at the annual Steering Committee meeting. Working Group Leaders are also invited at the meetings to report on their activity.

During the third InterRidge Theoretical Insitute, each poster presentation was given 5 minutes to present his/her work orally. The third InterRidge Theoretical Institute have successfully ended on 27^th September, 2015 after three days gathering. About 150 scientists from France, United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, USA, Germany, Portugal and China attended this events. 27 oral talks and 38 posters are presented during this event. Dr. Jian Lin from led the discussion on the summary of IRTI Recommendations. Progress have been made towards enhanced international deep-ocean exploration and networking of young scientists. 3 students have been selected by senior scientists to be awarded the “best student presentation awards.”
