The IPY Joint Committee has endorsed this event as the first in a series of international interdisciplinary IPY conferences.  It is therefore cosponsored by the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).  Sessions will take place in the Pribaltiskaya Hotel and at the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI).

Abstract submission deadline: 15 Jan. 2008.

Note: IASC will provide travel grants for early career scientists (less than 5 years after completion of PhD) who present papers with an Arctic component. The maximum travel support will be 2,000 EUR per person.  Applications consisting of the abstract submitted to the conference, a short but informative CV, and an estimate of the travel costs should be sent by 15 Jan. 2008, to:
