19-Jun-2008 The research objectives are testing of unattended in situ voltammetric analyzer with underwater communications for two-way communication and data transfer, and deployment of 10 concrete benchmarks via wireline, spanning the EPR axis out to 10 km west of the ridge axis, as part of a three-year project to measure the vertical motion of the benchmarks. The planned activities include eight to nine Alvin dives and deployment of markers. Major samples will be used to collect vent sample. The operations area will be 9 50' N, 104 17' W.
