IODP – preliminary proposal workshop

Workshop to develop an IODP preliminary proposal to investigate the early evolution of back-arc basins by drilling in the Havre Trough, 10-11 March 2020

The Australian and New Zealand IODP Consortium (ANZIC) is funding a workshop to be held at GNS Science, 1 Fairway Drive, Lower Hutt. The aim of this workshop is to draft a pre-proposal to submit to IODP before the deadline of April 1st 2020. This pre-proposal aims at ground-truthing current models of back-arc opening and extension in what is a unique natural laboratory, i.e., the Havre Trough, NE of New Zealand, which is one of the very few examples worldwide where the initiation and evolution of a young back-arc basin can be investigated in detail.

There are no registration costs but you will be responsible for booking your own travel and lodging. Lunches and refreshments will be provided during the workshop.
