On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we cordially invite you to attend the upcoming Rio2007 Conference and Exhibition, the Tenth International Congress of the Brazilian Geophysical Society (X CISBGf) to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from November 19 - 23, 2007.
The X CISBGf is also sponsored by the Society of Exploration Geophysics (SEG), the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) and the Union Latin American Geophysicists (ULG).
You are going to have the opportunity to see the major advances in exploration and exploitation of oil and gas in Brazilian sedimentary basins, especially in deep and ultra deep waters of the prolific basins of the east continental margin.
The technological evolution of geophysics, as shown by 4D seismic surveys, will play an important role in mature oil fields in the prolific Campos Basin. Billions of barrels of heavy oil discovered in Brazilian deep and ultra deep waters still demand new technology to be explored and produced. Seismic attributes derived from appropriate seismic inversion procedures that could lead to the characterization of the oil viscosity and the mobility of the heavy oil, are yet to be defined. The Technical Committee of Rio2007 is preparing an exciting technical program covering a wide range of geophysical topics pertaining to the oil industry, but also focusing on mining, environmental, solid earth and space geophysics.
Leading edge technology and its applications will also be highlighted as there is a demand for yet more cost effective methods to exploit hydrocarbons and minerals. EXPOGEF 2007, which runs in parallel with the event, is expected to host leading oil companies, data acquisition and processing contractors, hardware and software vendors, and various supply companies. It should be mentioned as well that players in the Brazilian Geophysical industry such as mining, environmental, engineering and nuclear geophysics will have a congenial atmosphere of growth with highly positive expectations. With the continued growing interest in business opportunities throughout Latin America, we anticipate attendees from around the world.
Rio2007 will be held at the Inter-Continental Hotel along São Conrado Beach in a magnificent setting.
