AGU Ocean Sciences Meeting 2016

Mapping the oceans: co-ordinating seabed and habitat mapping for maritime spatial planning.

Session ID#: 9526

Session Description:

Globally it is estimated that hydrographic maps are available for only 5% of the world’s oceans, even less of which have been mapped geologically or to identify benthic habitats.

European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2015 Vienna | Austria | 12 – 17 April 2015

The EGU General Assembly 2015 will bring together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary and space sciences. The EGU aims to provide a forum where scientists, especially early career researchers, can present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geoscience.

Please refer to http://www.egu2015.eu/home.html for details

Seafloor Observatories: Design, Results, and Integration

EGU session on Seafloor Observatories OS4.7:Seafloor Observatories: Design, Results, and Integration Convener: Mairi Best | Co-Conveners: Robert Weller , Henry Ruhl , Jean-Francois Rolin , Martin Scherwath A growing number of seafloor observatories around the world provide power and communications for (near)-real-time monitoring of environmental processes across the geosphere, biosphere, and hydrosphere. A key strength of observatory design is its ability to address interdisciplinary objectives simultaneously across temporal and spatial scales.

Indian Ocean Crust and Mantle Drilling

Scientific Ocean Drilling in the Indian Ocean Crust & Mantle May 13th to 16th, 2015 in Woods Hole MA, USA

The workshop will bring together scientists interested in the Indian ocean lower crust and mantle

Pre-AGU workshop on Hard Rock drilling by CHIKYU

Dear all who are interested in Hard Rock drilling into the ocean floor,

We would like to announce a Pre-AGU workshop on Hard Rock drilling by CHIKYU from 1 PM to 5:30 PM on December 14th in San Francisco.

The main goals of the workshop are (1) to share information about the current and/or future proposals and related concerns using CHIKYU and (2) to discuss pre proposal on the western Pacific outer rise to be submitted to the IODP in Spring 2015

StComm meeting 2014

The 2014 InterRidge Steering Committee meeting is going to be held in Beijing on September 27-28, 2014. We are asking the National Correspondence and workgroup leaders to submit the annual update. If there is any question you would like to be discussed on the meeting, please write to interridge@gmail.com.

Proposed InterRidge-sponsored session at AGU, 6-10 Dec 2012

The InterRidge Office is proposing to sponsor a session at AGU 2012. It seems appropriate to have a ridge focused session, now that national programmes have ended. At this stage, if you would be prepared to support this by presenting a paper, please contact the office (coordinator@interridge.org) by the end of February so that we can see the level of support within the InterRidge community.

InterRidge: Third Decadal Plan 2014-2023 discussion meeting

Please make every effort to attend the InterRidge Third Decade Planning meeting in San Francisco this December (just prior to the Fall AGU). InterRidge is YOUR programme. And this meeting is YOUR chance to influence its priorities over the next decade.

The successes of InterRidge are the successes of the whole ridge community. There is currently a rapidly growing economic and political interest in ridges and their resources. This pushes ridge science up the political and economic agenda and, as a result, the role of InterRidge is becoming ever more important. What do you think the big issues for ridge science are?

Check out the meeting agenda, register, and have YOUR say at:   http://www.interridge.org/third_decade
