This year marks the 80th year of the Continuous Plankton Recorder Survey, and so to celebrate the occasion there will be an international symposium. It will be held on Thursday 22nd & Friday 23rd September 2011 at Plymouth Guildhall, England, UK.

Members of the Census of Marine Life community and a Science Planning Committee have been preparing a scientific strategy to catalyze a new program of integrated international research in marine biodiversity in the spirit of the first Census but addressing new questions and emerging themes of importance to the scientific community and society as a whole.

The aim of the “Beyond 2010” workshop is to present and discuss this strategy, with a focus on engagement of the broader scientific community and plans and actions for implementation.

This international school is dedicated to extreme marine environments and deep-sea ecosystems, with a focus on interdisciplinary issues. The 3-week course is open to Master and PhD students, and is hosted at the University Paris 6 marine station of Banyuls.
