The 2010 Goldschmidt Conference will focus on "Earth, Energy, and the Environment." The organizing committee has identified twenty theme areas, and are now accepting proposals for sessions within each theme. The following are of particular interest to the InterRidge community:

Theme 1: Planetary Evolution and Astrobiology (Dave Des Marais, Malcolm Walter)  Theme 3: Deep-Earth Processes: Core and Mantle (Steve Shirey, Bernard Bourdon, Bernie Wood)  Theme 5: Evolution of Oceanic Crust and its Hydrothermal Systems (Bill Seyfried, Wolfgang Bach)  Theme 7: Magma Generation, Volcanism and Ore Formation (Peter Larson, Chris Heinrich)  Theme 10: Global Element Cycles and Climate Change (Andy Jacobson, Anton Eisenhauer)  Theme 15: Mineral–Microbe Interactions (Jeremy Fein, Andreas Kappler) Includes: Geomicrobiology of Mid-Ocean Ridge Systems: Connections Among Subseafloor, Plume, and Low-Temperature Alteration Environments

The goal of this session is to bring together microbiologists and geochemists having expertise in mid-ocean ridge systems to discuss connectivity of subseafloor, active vents, hydrothermal plumes, and low-temperature alteration environments from the perspective of geomicrobiology and biogeography.
