We have a pleasure to announce the call for abstracts for the upcoming "InterRidge Workshop on Hydrothermal Ore-forming Processes", organized by the InterRidge Working Group on Seafloor Massive Sulfides Resource along MOR between 19 and 21 September 2019, in Hangzhou, China. The overall theme of the workshop will be focused on hydrothermal ore-forming processes and the fate of Seafloor Massive Sulfide (SMS) deposits along slow and ultraslow spreading mid-ocean ridge system (MOR). This workshop aims to understand several key scientific questions related to hydrothermal circulation mechanisms and the geological factors that contribute to the formation, distribution and preservation of SMS deposits along different spreading MORs. The InterRidge Working Group (WG) on SMS hopes to capture the known/unknown BIG questions on SMS formation and preservation in the geologic record and identify future ways to address them through this workshop. Please click the Workshop Plan for more details of the workshop agenda.
Abstracts should be 1~2 pages in length (or more if needed). Abstracts should address the main theme of the workshop and may be presented in an oral or poster format, which will be decided by the WG Steering Committee. For early career scientists (PhD/Post-doctoral scholar), abstracts are NOT strictly limited by the workshop theme/objectives.
This workshop will provide partial financial support to several excellent early career scientists (International and Chinese) to help cover their flight fares and accommodations. If you would like to apply for the travel fund, please submit the application form and a letter of support from a supervisor or mentor with your abstract. The WG Steering Committee will evaluate the abstracts and travel requests and select awardees.
The Abstract Template can be found here.
Please send your abstract to wg_smsmor@sio.org.cn before 15 June 2019.
We look forward to seeing you in Hangzhou!
