InterRidge was represented by its co-Chair Jérôme Dyment at the first part (25 February – 1 March) of the 25th session of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) held in Kingston (Jamaica).
First iMOVE workshop - short summary
The first InterRidge workshop of 2019 saw the iMOVE working group gather in Bergen, Norway from February 6-8 for their inaugural workshop. iMOVE, which stands for integrated Multidisciplinary Observations in Vent Environments, aims to bring together ridge crest observatory operators and scientists to facilitate data and technology transfer and sharing, and develop new research ideas.
Call for bids to host the next InterRidge Office, 2020-2022
In January 2020 the InterRidge Office is due to rotate under the appointment of a new Chair. All interested Members of InterRidge are invited to submit bids to host the new office and nominations for the new Chair.
Spare berth on SMARTIES Cruise
French research cruise SMARTIES of RV “Pourquoi Pas?” and deep-sea submersible “Nautile” will take place between 12 July and 24 August 2019 on the intersection of the Mid-Atlandtic Ridge axis and the Romanche Transform Fault. Port calls will be on the Cape Verde Islands.

7th International Symposium on Deep-Sea Corals
The International Symposium on Deep-Sea Corals is the premier meeting for scientists, explorers, managers, policymakers, industry specialists and students to exchange ideas and share knowledge of deep-sea and cold-water corals and their ecosystems. Topics of this meeting will include biodiversity, ecology, evolution, environment, climate, fisheries, sponges, associated fauna, mesophotic ecosystems, anthropogenic impacts, technology, and conservation.
GeoHab 2019 Annual Conference
The GeoHab 2019 Annual Conference will be held in St. Petersburg (Russia) at A. P. Karpinsky Russian Geological Research Institute from 13 to 17 May 2019.
GEOHAB (Marine Geological and Biological Habitat Mapping) is an international association of marine scientists studying geological, biological, and physical oceanographic processes as indicators of benthic habitats and ecosystems and used as proxies for biological communities and species diversity. The GeoHab Community is linking geology and biology.

This session is promoted by the Oceanic Transform Faults working group of InterRidge and aims to present recent results on studies of these large features, especially on the rheology, deformation patterns, rupture processes, fluid circulation and physical properties of transform faults. We welcome observational studies on strike-slip and transform faults, both continental and oceanic, on fracture zones and on transform continental margins
Brief report from the SCOR-InterRidge Meeting on "Mid-Ocean Ridges and Other Geological Features of the Indian Ocean"
The Meeting on "Mid-Ocean Ridges and Other Geological Features of the Indian Ocean" Organized jointly by Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research & InterRidge, hosted jointly by CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography & ESSO-National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research took place on 14 - 16 November 2018 in Goa (India). The workshop was attended by 128 scientists. Ten international attendants and 17 young scientists from India were supported with travel awards funded jointly by SCOR & InterRidge.
