The SCOR-POGO Visiting Fellowship Programme provides funding to researchers, technicians, postraduate students or post-doctoral fellows from developing countries or with economies in transition to spend between one and three months at another oceanographic institute, or to receive training.

NOAA 2020 Expedition to the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (EX2004, EX2005, EX2006)

From May 31 through August 20, NOAA and partners will conduct a three-part, telepresence-enabled ocean exploration expedition – Voyage to the Ridge 2020- on NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer to collect critical baseline information about unknown and poorly understood deepwater areas of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, Azores Plateau, and the Charlie-Gibbs Fracture Zone.

International workshop DriMMLOC at Tongji University in Shanghai (China)

this message is to inform you that given the uncertain situation in China the DriMMLOC conference initially programmed for 7-9 May 2020, at Tongji University (Shanghai) will be postponed to the next fall 2020.

Calling for additional scientific information regarding active vents on the Northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge to support ISA workshop on regional environmental management plan in this region

The International Seabed Authority (ISA) convened a workshop on “Regional Environmental Management Plan for the area of the Northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge” in November 2019 in Évora, Portugal (See https://www.isa.org.jm/workshop/workshop-regional-environmental-management-plan-area-northern-mid-atlantic-ridge for the details of the workshop). During the workshop break-out session, the “active vent group”, reviewed and compiled the relevant scientific  information to describe active vent sites as Sites in Need of Protection relating to Article 145 of the Convention (see Appendix 1-1 of Annex IX of the report of this workshop
